Halloween fun

This year we were unable to attend our own ward's trunk-or-treat, so we went to a friend's. We had a lot of fun and somehow managed to leave with the same amount of children we took, despite my best efforts to lose one or two...
Curse that husband of mine with his long arms and willingness to do double duty!

I don't want to surprise anyone with this information, but Corbin really doesn't like masks...

...and Chase really doesn't like not wearing his mask.

But the pumpkin was happy!

Posting

I hate posting. I love the feeling I get when I've actually accomplished it, but the act of posting-detestable. Maybe it's because it's been so long between posts and there is so much to catch up on. Or maybe it's the pressure I feel when I think that people will read this and so I need to make sure that I don't sound like a complete idiot. Could be because there are a million things to do around here and I feel guilty taking the time to do this because my children or husband need me. Whatever the reason, I'm going to plow through with some updates because I know it'll make me feel better in the end and if I sound terrible or nonsensical, oh well.

For those of you that don't know, Denver is now a full-time student. He's studying to become a pilot. We felt that this was the best course of action because it's allowed us to coordinate our schedules in a way that the kids won't need to be in any daycare. I'm really excited for him because this is something he's always wanted to do and now he is! I know that he's anxious about doing well, but I'm not in the least bit worried. Denver is one of the hardest working men I've ever known-he'll be great.

Since Denver is now in school, I'm back at work full time. I have a love/hate relationship with this because I love my job but I hate being away from my kids. I suppose there is the occasional morning I'm happy to escape to the office, but who wouldn't be when there are poopy diapers involved?

Chase has been pretty busy lately also. In addition to his compounded big-brotherly duties, he has started orchestra. He chose to play the cello, which he lugs to school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for practice. It's really fun to listen to him practice and hear him talk about it. He also goes to school early to do Safety Patrol (two week on, two weeks off). It's a neat program that they have for the older kids to help supervise the younger and keep everyone safe. All-in-all, he's just growing up too fast.

Corbin has probably been the busiest of us all. He hardly has time for his nap every day he's so busy eating, distracting Dad, playing with Chase, sitting on Mia, hiding toys and keys in shoes, stealing Mia's binky, closing doors, opening cupboards, learning new words, reorganizing tupperware, putting Mia's binky back in her mouth, trying on Dad's socks, playing peek-a-boo, and that's all before breakfast!

Mia is the quietest Dalton at this point. There's a lot of eating, sleeping and pooping, but she did show her Mom that she, too, is growing up fast. She smiles! I know, you might think it's gas, but it's not. She gave me her first big smile the night before she turned six weeks old and she's been doing it ever since. I like to pretend that she only smiles for me, but, alas, she smiles all the time now and so I can no longer tell Denver that I'm her favorite. Still, she lets me dress her up and play with her hair-it's almost long enough that I can put it up in mini-pigtails. I'll try and get a picture one of these days.

Well, that's us in a nutshell. Pictures are coming. Soon. Now. I'll get started on another post because if I don't do it now while the fire is lit it'll never happen.

Hunsaker Heaven

We recently enjoyed a visit from my mom and my brother, Luke, as well as his two kids. It was more than wonderful to see them. They came at the perfect time and were a HUGE help to us. Plus, they took the streak of bad luck that'd been plaguing us since Mia's birth. (The day after we got home from the hospital, we discovered a broken pipe in the front yard requiring us to shut off the water so Denver could fix it, then Denver and Corbin were hit by a car, and then our 0ne-year-old fridge stopped working-never buy Frigidaire!) We had an amazing time so I decided to post a few pictures from the visit. My mom actually took the pictures, but since I highly doubt she'll posting them I don't feel at all guilty using them for my blog!
Do you think Corbin likes his new sister?

Kali wasn't sure about Corbin at first, but they eventually managed to get along.

We like to think of this one as the Hobbit children. I had just finished making the orange towel for Mia and we still had Corbin's out, so the two picked them up and wandered around the house in them for awhile. It was pretty cute.

Mmmmm, donuts.

Them are some good looking kids!
We took a day and went to the coast. I think the best part by far was watching Chase and Quinton as they tried to intimidate the waves and provoke them into knocking them over.
Quinton's a pretty tough guy.
Did you see that one?!?!
I believe I can fly...
Precious.
Corbin and his own bit of ocean.

Little Lukey with his little family.

My own little family. All of us. Wow. There's 5 now!

More Mia

I will not bore you with words...
