 Woke up this morning to a little surprise....

Yes, that does say, "Hi Chase".

 Who in the world would do this, and leave candy (that's what's in his hand)?

Ahhh. It all makes sense now. Sierra, Chase's friend, had a sleepover for her 13th birthday. To be honest, I wasn't surprised at all because her mom had called me the night before to make sure it was okay. That's probably a good thing because when I noticed the flashes from a camera around midnight I wasn't concerned. And it was fun watching Chase speculate about who could have done this and why. Corbin was just concerned that there was such a big mess in the yard and kept saying, "That's not nice. Mom, that's not nice, right?" Mia thought it was snow. I wish I'd had the camera ready when the girls came to clean up, because Chase's face was awesome! And the girls had it all cleaned up within 10 minutes even with the little ones climbing all over them. Thanks for the laughs girls! We sure had fun on this end. And I suppose I should get used to this, Chase will be a teenager in a couple of days...

Benched

Ever play basketball? That's not what this post is about. Although I could easily go off on a tangent about how life is getting the better of me and I wish I had a coach that would pull me from the game and send in another player to take over whenever I was out of line (yelling at the kids for no reason other than I'm tired of cleaning up after them) or just too exhausted to continue (try holding a crying baby for an hour, seriously-CRYING!). Alas, no coach, no metaphorical benching. Instead, I'm gonna show off some of the work we've been doing around here on Chase's room, including his-you guessed it-bench!

Here's Corbin chillin' on the bench before I got it re-covered. Doesn't he look bright-eyed?

Ahh, much better. Both Corbin and the bench look more alive. This was also taken before we got the shelves in....

And here's all the kids, shelves and outlet complete. First time I'd ever installed an outlet. I had planned on doing the shelves myself, but my husband is very good to me and he did them instead. (I think it's because he was worried I'd cut off an appendage with the skill saw. Just sayin'.)

 I like to pretend that Chase is staring at his new reading area with complete adoration, his heart filled with love for his mother and all her work. That's how I'm telling it, that's how it was.

Cards

Thought we'd try something new this year and make our own Mother's Day cards...

This one was the winner. It's really hard to get the kids to look right at you on a sunny day, but I really like this one. Can't wait to get them together and sent off to those Mothers of mine that I love, love, LOVE!
